Firework Breath
Adapted from Teach Your Child Meditation by Lisa Roberts (Sterling 2018)
Firework Breath is a fun, active mindful breathing exercise that provides an outlet for kids to shake off excess energy or silliness. The mindful movement and balance challenge require body awareness and keen focus, and the energetic exhale releases excess energy buzzing around those little minds and bodies!
Simple steps:
Bend your knees and lower your body into a squat position. Balance on your toes and hold this squat to create your firework's launchpad.
Press your palms together and place your hands in front of your chest with the fingertips pointing up. Be sure your shoulders are relaxed. Your hands and fingertips are the top of the firework.
Take a deep breath in through your nose, preparing the firework to launch.
Open your mouth and breathe out loud like an exploding firework, “paaa!” Launch the firework with your exhale: jump up and spread your arms wide and imagine you are a colorful firework exploding in the sky.
Imagine what color and type of firework and how bright and dynamic you are.
